Star Trek: The Original Voyages: A Visual History will be released on Nov. 10, 2026, by Penguin Random House and Ten Speed Press as part of the franchise’s 60th-anniversary celebrations.
Written by Kyle Newman and Jeff Bond, the 416-page hardcover explores the legacy of the television series that first aired on NBC on Sept. 8, 1966. The book focuses on the characters, storylines and creators behind the original Star Trek, whose three-season, 79-episode run became the foundation for a wider pop-culture phenomenon.
The volume covers the U.S.S. Enterprise crew, including James T. Kirk, Spock, Leonard McCoy, Montgomery Scott, Nyota Uhura, Pavel Chekov and Hikaru Sulu. It also examines the work of series creator Gene Roddenberry and his collaborators.
As the first installment in a planned two-book series about Star Trek’s complete history, the collector’s edition includes archival photographs, costumes, storyboards, interviews with cast and creators, behind-the-scenes material, props and filming models. It also chronicles the short-lived animated series and the six Star Trek feature films released through 1991.
Beyond the screen productions, the book looks at the franchise’s broader licensed culture, including toys, comic books, convention memorabilia, promotional roadshows, trading cards, media parodies and vintage magazine covers. The publishers present it as a visual history of how the original series and its enduring characters helped reshape science fiction.
